New German Art is an online gallery for contemporary German art. We represent around twenty contemporary sculptors and painters who work in the abstract tradition. Most artists have (largely) won their spurs in the German art world. They exhibit solo in galleries, participate in art fairs and their work is included in private collections. A number of them showed in museums. In addition to established artists, we are also looking for young talent.
New German Art sells exclusively online. Are you interested in a work of art? You can get in touch with us via the contact form.
Who we are
Marcel de Bruijn (1964) studied philosophy and German language and literature at Leiden University. In Germanism he graduated on German dadaism and in philosophy on the universal hermeneutics of Gadamer. Since 1991 he has been working as a teacher in German and philosophy in secondary education. His main motive for starting New German Art is to promote contemporary visual art from the German language area.
Saskia Klaassen (1966) studied journalism in Tilburg and art history at Leiden University. She graduated on British post-war artist Francis Bacon. In addition to New German Art, she works as a freelance journalist and editor. Reaching an audience for German art via blogs and social media is her driving force.
